About

Camarillo has been my home for over thirty-five years. I joined the Army in 2001 and returned home on every leave I took. The church, now called Good Shephard, was First Lutheran and had a First Lutheran Day School. The pastor there, Pastor Hiepler, paid for my tuition through sixth grade. There aren't enough words for the gratitude I have for his generosity. He was a kind man who dedicated his life to starting churches, and I was so blessed to have him as part of my life.

I then went to school at Los Primers, and middle school was at Los Altos and Mesa Union. Camarillo and Rio Mesa Highschool are where I attended after eighth grade. Joining the Army was a rash decision, and there were some good times and some not-too-good times, but I met my best friend there and learned so much about myself. I did one tour in Iraq and one in Afghanistan.

So, when I came home on leave, this familiarity with my hometown was so comforting. I did miss the baker's shop with the best snickerdoodles, Tommy's burger, and the Bookwork on being at Ventura Blvd.

That is why District 2 is so important to me. I understand there has to change, but so much has transformed, and not for the better. We have lost many small businesses. The talk of redevelopment scares me, especially when it comes from people that do not live here. Preservation is essential to me and getting residents' opinions should always be at the forefront.

I will dedicate myself to working on the health and well-being of all our citizens.
